I'm an English born author-illustrator and mum of two girls who now calls Australia home.
After reporting for my local newspaper during some challenging times, I decided what everyone needed was a little cheer.
I created Sharni and Johnny to spread some joy and in 2020 joined the 100 Day Project on Instagram to deliver 100 days of joy during the first pandemic lockdown.
My first book from the series 'Joy is...' was published in 2021 becoming a number one Amazon bestseller and all 100 illustrations from the series were featured in a successful art gallery exhibition at the Manning Regional Art Gallery later that same year.
I was also made redundant from my job as a journalist in 2021 when our small community newspaper shut down.
Though it was a sad end of an era for our community I welcomed the opportunity to spend my time drawing and spreading joy instead.
It brings me great pleasure to know that my books and art are finding their way into homes around the world bringing joy and comfort during these challenging times.
I'm currently working on other books in the Joy series and I'm also sharing illustrations from my new 'Kindness Series' over at the Sharni Normal Instagram page.
I'd love to see you there!

Best friends Sharni and Johnny live in a small house in a small town in Australia.
They've discovered many things that bring them joy including swinging on the washing line, drinking hot chocolate and growing their own veggies.
Since 2019 this happy pair have been on a mission to spread joy one little picture at a time.
Sharni and Johnny's pen pals are Marni and Rhonnie.
These guys love writing letters and sending postcards from places they visit (when they are able to travel safely of course!)
They'll often pop in when passing and never miss a party!
